Bob's Fantastic Green Smoothie

   Ingredients:

  • Orange - whole pealed (I prefer CA Naval Oranges)

  • Filtered ice - 5 to 6 cubes in one cup or ˝ cup crushed ice

  • Pomegranate Juice - fill the 1 cup of ice (1/2 cup)

  • Small Carrot - cut into 3/5 pieces after washing

  • Baby Spinach Leaves - 10 to 12 leaves (or handfull as you like)

  • Broccoli - 2 to 4 small heads - size of your inner palm

  • Cauliflower - 2 to 3 small caps - same palm

  • Cilantro - 6 to 8 small sprigs/stalks

  • Red or Orange Bell Pepper - 1/8 to 1/4

  • Celery salt - 2 dashes or ˝ teaspoon (optional)

  • EVOO - 1 tablespoon

Process: Wash all vegetables and drain. Peel or cut out orange. Cut up other items as specified. Place softer items like Orange, Cilantro, and Spinach in the bottom of the Vita-Mix (wet-blade unit). Add the rest of the ingredients then put on the VitaMix lid with tamper in. Start Vita-Mix on low speed and quickly advance to the high speed while using the Tamper to push down the ice, carrots and other ingredients. I shut off the unit and let sit for a minute and then re-blend one more time. I find that this small step helps bring out the true “flavor blending” of all the ingredients. Pour and drink. Special Note: My rinse wash water is from a 6 stage reverse osmosis filtered water system at my kitchen sink.

 Optional additions: not necessarily used together

  1. Hot Sauce - 1 to 2 dashes of your favorite hot spice

  2. Garlic - 1 clove or 1 tbsp chopped

  3. Himalayan Sea Salt – a sprinkle or two

  4. Wheat Grass powder - 1 teaspoon

  5. Hemp or Spirulina Protein Powders - 1 teaspoon
